Still Plowing Through Back Issues of The New Yorker

Read "Playdate" by Kate Walbert in the March 26, 2007 issue. A good New York parenting story.

Also, somehow ended up with the November 27, 2006 issue. Reading Roger Angell's recap of the 2006 baseball season. Angell always writes brilliantly about baseball. The abstract is here. However, the following is worth typing out, for a fun look back:

[Barry Bonds], barring injury, should catch up with Hank Aaron's all-time seven hundred and fifty-five along about next Labor Day, while playing as a designated hitter for some American League team. He has just become a free agent, and the Giants, who may wish to change the subject and also free up the vast clubhouse square footage given to Bonds's luxury-suite appointments, will not try hard to bring him back.

Uh, not quite. Nice try, though.

Got a chuckle out of the 'look back' also a good link worth reading.

Hank Aaron will always be the man for me ~ never mind Bonds. :)
