Sol LeWitt Has Died

Sol LeWitt has died. Read the New York Times obit here.

I most likely would not have necessarily known who he was had my friend Brian, in Toronto, sent me a handful of books in the late '90s to get signed for him. LeWitt was having an exhibitionat the Dia Center for the Arts in Chelsea and I called the museum. They acknowledged that if I bought a catalog from them, and left the additional items I wanted signed, Mr. LeWitt would gracefully comply.

I did. And he did. And Brian got a handful of artist-signed books. Le Witt's work is dazzling. You should look for it at your local modern art museum.See more of his work here.
