Friday Five Shuffle

Ok, I've done this for, but it's my blogday, and this time it'll be a little different. Here are the first five songs on the BilliPod shuffle. I will hopefully enhance the list with links to the music that may be available for a listen elsewhere in the blogosphere. Some of the links may work, some may not, but what will work are the links to the blogs themselves, which others may find of interest.

Here goes:

1) "Vibe Alive" from Herbie Hancock, on Perfect Machine.

I don't have this available, but check out Hancock's "Rockit" here, courtesy of Heather over at I Am Fuel, You Are Friends.

2) "The Rock" from Harry Chapin's The Gold Medal Collection. Sorry, no mp3 for this obscure Chapin song that appeared originally on the 1975 album Portrait Gallery. The haunting lyrics are here.

3) "Samuel Sin," a live concert cover by The Raconteurs, found here. The song was originally perfromed by Canadian rock outfit Danko Jones. MP3 courtesy of the blog Berkeley Place.

4) "Schoolhouse Rocky," the original theme for Schoolhouse Rock. Fitting, considering the back to school theme this week in NYC. Just head on over to the cool music blog Mainstream isn't so bad...is it? for a whole post with a baker's dozen back to school songs for your enjoyment.

And last but not least....

5) "You Really Got Me" by the Kinks. A classic, picked up via the blog Hello, Gina.
